Work closely with a pro screenwriter and a tight-knit group of creatives to shape your story, tighten your script, and build something real.

And when you’re done? You’ll pitch it directly to the producers and team at Slight Breeze Studios for full production and distribution consideration.

Inside The Writers Room

  • Over 8 weeks, you’ll learn how to:

    • Develop a short film concept from idea to polished script

    • Structure your story and format it to industry standards

    • Build characters, write sharp dialogue, and keep your story contained and compelling

    • Give and receive real time feedback in a writer lead environment

    • Refine your pitch and practice delivering it with clarity and confidence.

    And at the end? You’ll pitch your script directly to Slight Breeze Studios. One project will move forward into production.

  • 8 weeks

  • Choose a class time that works best for your schedule. We are offering two separate workshop tracks:

    Thursdays | 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM

    or

    Saturday | 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM

    Each class runs once a week for 8 weeks, starting June 19th in Brooklyn, NY.

  • Sessions are held in person at our concept space at 141 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, 11205.

The Writers Room Curriculum

  • Find your focus. Turn your idea into a powerful logline.

  • Learn proper formatting + build a beat sheet that flows

  • Develop characters, build tension, and master the short form.

  • Write strong dialogue and lean into visual story telling.

  • Table read + live group feedback. Hear what’s working.

  • Revise with intention. Cut what doesn’t serve the story.

  • Build and rehearse your pitch.

  • Pitch your short to Slight Breeze Studios.

Your Questions—Answered

  • Do you offer payment plans or discounts?

  • Class Sessions

    In-person classes are held once a week for 2.5 hours

    Feedback Calls (Optional) : 30 Mins

  • It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.

  • Nope! module will cover everything you need to know.

  • Registration requires full semester commitment and payment

    Requests for a full semester refund must be made at least 10 days prior to the start of class and incurs a $75 processing fee per person per refund

    Requests for cancellation made within 10 days of the semester start are 50% refundable

    Yaro cannot honor refunds requested within 48hrs of class start, no exceptions

    Transfers must be requested 7 days prior to the start of class

    There are no refunds or credit once a semester begins

    There are no refunds for missed class but we do offer make-up classes according to our policy

  • Students may take up to 1 makeup classes per semester in a comparable class. If a makeup class isn’t possible, a 30 minute feedback call can be arranged.
